Stafford Roots. On both sides of his family, Bob Woodson's Virginia roots go back to before the Civil War. He is a life-long resident of Virginia and the Washington, DC area and has lived in Aquia Harbour for nearly twenty years. He and Vernell Woodson, his wife of 33 years, raised their children in Stafford County. They have five grown children and nine grandchildren.

Military service. Bob was in the Air Force (left) and military service has become a family tradition. Bob's son, Steve (right), is currently serving in the Air Force and has been deployed twice to the Middle East.
Economist. Bob is well equipped to tackle the tough economic issues facing Stafford County. He has a bachelor’s degree (BS) in economics and worked as an economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics before retiring after twenty-two years of service.
Public planner. Bob brings significant training to the many growth-related challenges facing Stafford. He has both a bachelor’s degree (BA) and a master’s degree (MA) in urban regional planning.

Common Sense. In addition to his formal education and work experience, Bob brings a down-to-earth common sense approach to addressing Stafford's issues. He can cut through the bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo and bring practical solutions to the County's tough problems.
Integrity. Bob believes strongly in open government with integrity. He will serve the citizens and taxpayers, not the developers and special interests. One key way to do this is to consistently share information about what is happening in Stafford with citizens. This web site is one such example.
